Gary and Gillian Atkinson have hearts as big as the unique, internationally recognized and culturally important archive they curate, honor, and elevate at Document Records - the largest catalogue in the world with over 25,000 tracks of vintage blues, jazz, gospels, spirituals, boogie woogie, & old time country music. Important human rights, race in America & cultural history component. They are undeniably successful in what they do (though they have always been motivated more by preserving important voices, human rights, and helping others.) They also license music to film & TV - THEIR client list includes Bill Wyman of The Rolling Stones, Paul Simon, Jack White, The Sinpsons, CSI, HBO's Big Love, HBOs Deadwood, Mr Robot, Vampire Diaries, Sony Music, Warner Brothers & many more. However even today what motivates them most is continuing to elevate and advocate for the legacies and families of artists of color who had incredible impact on American culture but often died poor or forgotten and they have several important ongoing passion projects to shine light on these important cultural figures supporting pride people can have today in the cultural achievements of Black Americans
