Sarah Graves is an upstanding student at UC Irvine. In the two quarters she has been a college student, she has already embedded herself deeply within the campus culture and deemed herself an irreplaceable presence among society.
Sarah challenges herself every morning to achieve greatness. In beginning of her fall 2017 quarter, she immediately joined two campus organizations: The Delta Delta Delta sorority and the American Society of Chemical Engineers. Sarah maintains an impeccable balance of life. Chemical engineering is an extremely difficult and time-consuming major. Sarah is a unique student; not many first-year college students are able to hold a high GPA in the college of engineering as well as be an active member in her two clubs. In the ASChE, she holds the position of freshman chair. As if this was not enough, Sarah was also slated into the position of Activities Commissioner for her sorority in November 2017, and she was one of six freshmen to receive a position. Her duties include, but are not limited to, attending a weekly meaning to learn about upcoming events, organizing groups of members to attend activities, and managing a fining system. She also communicates with each member to encourage participation chapter wide.
Sarah has received several accolades in her short time at UC Irvine. In the 2018 Greek Awards, she was honored as the 2nd runner-up for the Outstanding New Initiate Award. She also made the Dean’s list in her first quarter.
Sarah Graves is also a big advocate of community service. In the fall, she volunteered at Tri Delta’s Delta House of Pancakes where she sold tickets, and made and served pancakes to fundraise for St. Jude Children’s Hospital. During UCI’s Lunar New Year’s festival, she volunteered her time to run the annual wishing tree activity. She also took part of a national letter writing campaign again to fundraise for St Jude.
All these activities are just a small sample of all the amazing things that Sarah does. She is such a unique and positive presence to be around. It is an inspiration to be around her; not many people are capable of living the high pressure, busy, successful life she does. She is truly the personification of what it means to be an Anteater.
